choosing a carpet

Choosing the right carpet for your home or business is essential for longevity and comfort.

We offer a large range of carpets from high-end luxury, to high-traffic durable to a more basic range that is very popular for rental properties.

A carpet which is made from 80% wool and 20% polyester is a good choice in terms of appearance and comfort as well as longevity.

Carpets with higher levels of polyester may have more of a sheen, however they are generally cheaper and easier to maintain (although they can sometimes bobble).

For a high footfall area we would normally recommend a laminate or vinyl floor which we can discuss with you at your consultation.

For a more comfortable feeling underfoot, bedrooms can have a deeper pile as they are walked on less frequently and usually without shoes. We recommend a tighter, flatter twist for environments such as offices.

underlay

Having a good-quality underlay can make a big difference to the overall feel and longevity of your carpet. We supply varying ranges of underlay depending on your budget. Using our experience we are able to recommend the best combination of carpet and underlay for your flooring requirements. We carry a large number of samples in our Mobile Showroom so that you can see the different types of underlay available.

HARD-WEARING CARPET

Berber (or loop pile) carpet has a short pile twist of 1 or 2 ply which means that it is very hardwearing. It also looks modern and as a result it is very popular both for domestic and commercial use.

However it is easier to snag than a normal carpet (due to the loop construction) and is not recommended for a staircase as the edge of the stair can flatten more quickly.
